I’m a writer and a poet and an oiler, the owner of Sìol Naturals. I'm always learning, and a firm believer in the magic of creativity. I love traveling and adventure, and believe in being a tourist in your own city and feeling at home everywhere else. I'm a spoonie with so much trauma in my past, and so thankful for the healing strength of Young Living Essential Oils. (Did you know that trauma damages your cells and leads to chronic illness? Now you do. YL eos have the ability to heal those damaged cells - so you see why I'm so passionate about them!)

I took a class with the poet Jenny Lewis at Exeter College. During one session, we discussed our identities as poets. Jenny and my classmates dubbed me ‘The Natural Healer.’ I write to heal the brokenness I find in myself and to reconcile the hurt that I see in others. I write to let the light into broken places. This goes hand in hand with oils... when I see people suffering and I can help, I want to hand out alllll the oils! life is so much happier when your health and emotions are supported, y'all.

I'm the Outdoor Editor of Panorama: the Journal of Intelligent Travel - and I am all about changing the face of outdoor literature, and rewriting the stereotypes that once dominated the field. The wonders of nature hold roots, history, myth, and lore, and belong to everyone - of every sex, race, shape, and ability. One of the first pieces I edited was nominated for a 2018 Pushcart Prize.

I have an MLitt. in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow, a certificate in Journalism & Digital Media from the World Journalism Institute, and a certificate in creative writing from the Oxford University Dept. of Cont. Ed. Creative Writing Summer Course, where I studied YA Fiction and Poetry, and an old friend from Scotland visited me for a wild whirlwind of a romance.

Now, six years, one marriage, and many adventures later, Gordon and I find ourselves in Montana with one foot in the Scottish Hebrides, and the world's most daring and imaginative toddler, Alexander Jack, and an artistic orange-and-white kitty named Leopold Bloom. The adventure goes on.
